HISTORY
Created in 1985, Ecritel has been a leading actor of digital communication in France
Created in 1985 by Chritophe Doveil, Thierry Louail and Jaime Querub, engineers with previous experience of digital communication in such companies as Pages Jaunes or Sligos, Ecritel firstly provided Minitel/X25 software tools who equiped a lot of French and European big companies.
However, in early 1990, this equipment market slowed down and Ecritel decided to take over the hosting activity of British Télécom France using its software.
From year 1995, is launched a website development and hosting activity, soon becoming the main activity.
In 2001, Ecritel answered to Internet bubble bursting by specialization and sold its website developement activity.
In 2003, Ecritel opened several data centers in Courbevoie, Clichy and Saint-Denis and took over the hosting businesses of several fellow companies in difficulties (Palo Alto, Wis, Alphalan, Skyturn and Sodexi).
Due to this specialization strategy, Ecritel became in 2007 the French number one of internet managed hosting services with a € 7.2M turn over.
